An original watercolour painting of a colourful mandarin duck. I love the pattern the ripples and the reflection make in this piece. Inspired by Japanese prints, the piece is called 'Eternal Love' as mandarin ducks are considered symbols of eternal love and marital fidelity in Asian culture.
The males only molt into this beautiful plumage to impress females during the mating season. In actual fact mandarin ducks only mate for a saeson and the female rears the ducklings on her own.
The painting measures 16x12" and is painted on heavy weight 600gsm, cold pressed watercolour paper. The frame is a black frame, measuring 16x20" with a soft white mount attached using the hinge method.
Please message me if you have any questions. Postage is to the UK mainland only.
This is one design in my 'Wildlife collection' originally created to raise awareness of wildlife under threat in the wild such as giraffes, tigers and elephants, see the other designs here.
